Welcome to the demo version of ╥Multimedia Exotic Pets.╙ This README file provides you with the basics needed to get started on Macintosh and Power Macintosh computers.
1. About the Demo
This demo is designed to give you a sampling of ╥Multimedia Exotic Pets.╙ The demo is not fully funtional ╤ some of the features have been disabled, and only 14 pets are available.
In addition to what's included in the demo, the full version contains over 120 pets, with hundreds of photographs, video clips, audio clips and informative articles.

2. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
Your Macintosh or Power Macintosh computer should have the following minimum system configuration:
256 (8-bit) color Macintosh (68040 CPU recommended)
4 MB of free memory (5 MB or more recommended)
13-inch color monitor (640x480 pixels)
QuickTime¬ 2.0 or higher (included on CD-ROM)
CD-ROM drive (double-speed recommended)
System 7 or higher recommended
3. INSTALLATION
All files related to installation are in the ╥Install╙ folder on the CD, located at the top level of the CD-ROM. The files are:
QuickTime
QuickTime Musical Instruments
QuickTIme PowerPlug (only required for Power Macintosh computers)
Apple Multimedia Tuner
Sound Manager
The steps for installation are:
(1) Drag older versions of these files to the Trash. The older versions will be in your System Folder (System 6) or your Extensions folder inside the System Folder (System 7).
(2) Drag all of the above files onto your System Folder. Under System 7, the Finder will put these into their correct locations in the Extensions folder.
For improved performance, copy the "Multimedia Exotic Pets DEMO" application to your hard drive and increase its preferred memory allocation by choosing ╥Get Info...╙ from the Finder╒s ╥File╙ menu. You can then run the application from your hard drive.
4. GETTING STARTED
To start the application, double-click on the ╥Multimedia Exotic Pets DEMO╙ icon.
The "shrub" at the bottom of the screen is used to switch between sections of the disc. Clicking on the animals hiding in the shrub takes you to the following sections:
Pets: explore over 120 types of pets.
Groups: pets organized into groups.
Pick-A-Pet: find the pet that's right for you.
Fun: games, slide show, wacky movies, and other surprises.
Topics: read articles and watch videos about pet-related topics.
Help: get online help about the program.
Quit: quit the applciation (or type command-Q)
Explore the disc by single-clicking (double-clicking is not necessary) on objects, text, and anything else you'd like to try. You can't hurt anything, so click on everything and anything. Yellow text is "hot"╤if you click on yellow text, it will show you related information.
